Azure IoT Hub & Core

Jump-start your Internet of Things project with Microsoft IoT Hub. Connect, monitor and control billions of IoT assets running on a broad set of operating systems and protocols. Establish reliable, bi-directional communication with these assets, even if they’re intermittently connected, and analyse – and act on – incoming telemetry data. Enhance the security of your IoT solutions by using per-device authentication to communicate with devices that have the appropriate credentials. Revoke access rights to specific devices to maintain the integrity of your system.

Windows 10 IoT Core is the smallest version of Windows 10 and is designed to help you build connected things of all sizes and types.  Take a look at the video below to see how IoT Core and Hub can enable you to automate much much more…

IoT Core: Windows 10 for smaller devices

Windows 10 IoT Core is a version of Windows 10 that is optimized for smaller devices with or without a display, and that runs on both ARM and x86/x64 devices. Windows 10 IoT Core utilizes the rich, extensible Universal Windows Platform (UWP) API for building great solutions.

Connect, monitor and manage billions of IoT assets

Rely on Azure IoT Hub to easily and securely connect your Internet of Things (IoT) assets. Use device-to-cloud telemetry data to understand the state of your devices and assets, and be ready to take action when an IoT device needs your attention. In cloud-to-device messages, reliably send commands and notifications to your connected devices – and track message delivery with acknowledgement receipts. Device messages are sent in a durable way to accommodate intermittently connected devices.

Support a broad set of operating systems and protocols

If your solution cannot use the device libraries, IoT Hub exposes a public protocol that enables devices to natively use the MQTT v3.1.1, HTTP 1.1, or AMQP 1.0 protocols. You can also extend IoT Hub to support custom protocols by:

  • Creating a field gateway with Azure IoT Edge that converts your custom protocol to one of the three protocols understood by IoT Hub.
  • Customizing the Azure IoT protocol gateway, an open source component that runs in the cloud.

Enhance the security of your IoT solutions

Per-Device authentication is integrated. Set up individual identities and credentials for each of your connected devices – and help retain the confidentiality of both cloud-to-device and device-to-cloud messages. To maintain the integrity of your system there is the ability to selectively revoke access rights for specific devices as required.
